In 2019, Tourism contributed around $39 billion to Canada’s economy.

What is a Canadian Visit Visa

A visitor visa is a document allowing citizens of visa required countries to enter Canada as a visitor for up to six months. The two main types of visitor visas are single entry and multiple entry visas. Evidently, single entry visas only allow for one entry into Canada while multiple entry visas allow multiple entries while the visa is valid.

Types of Visitor Visas in Canada

You can visit Canada to see family, friends, for tourism or other reasons. You will most likely have to request a temporary residence visa before coming to Canada unless you’re from a visa-exempt country.

Single Entry Visitor Visa

You can enter Canada only once during this visa’s period of validity. (Only for business purposes).

The expiry date is usually set one month after the arrival date in Canada but can be extended for a period of 6 months

Multiple Entry Visitor Visa

You could obtain this visa for a maximum 10-year period of validity and you’ll be able to enter the country as many times as necessary.

What if a Visitor Visa is Not Necessary?

Citizens and some permanent residents of countries that are not required to obtain a travel visa will need to apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA) to visit Canada through a commercial airline.

Under normal circumstances, you can receive an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) within minutes. However, if you fill in the wrong information, it can take several weeks or even months to receive a final decision.

Obtaining an Invitation Letter

To visit Canada and if you have a host, you can include a letter of invitation from your host. It must be compelling and well written. It is also beneficial if it is notarized.

Extending Your Stay in Canada

Visitor Record

This is a document issued either by the Canada Border Services Agency or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Visitors are usually only allowed to stay up to 6 months in Canada. If you want to stay in Canada longer, then you have to apply for an extension.

If your status expired within the last 90 days, you can restore your temporary resident status as a student, worker or visitor.

Express Entry

The tourist visas are normally valid for 6 months however the border services officer may allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months.

A visitor visa allows you to enter Canada. Once inside, you have temporary legal status to live or travel anywhere in Canada. You will not be allowed to work, study in a designated learning institution (DLI), or apply for a study permit. You can search for work and join short term courses that are being offered through a non-DLI institution

Yes, they will incur additional costs but they can be added to your principal application.
