Families Reunited: Our Success Stories

Immigration Pros has taken so well care of me from the beginning! When I was trying to become a Permanent Resident they took care of it all and lead me through the whole process step by step. They were always available to answer all my questions and concerns. I married a Canadian and moved to Canada on a work visa. We lived happily for many years and had 3 children together. So it was time to lay down some roots. My family and I are forever grateful!!…

What is Canadian Family Sponsorship?

Looking to immigrate to Canada with your family?
Canadian Family Sponsorship allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to bring their loved ones to live in Canada, reuniting families and strengthening bonds. This program lets certain relatives join their family members and become permanent residents.
Family sponsorship involves vouching for your family member and taking on financial responsibilities for them. Canada offers specific sponsorship programs for spouses, parents, and children, each with clear requirements and procedures designed for different family relationships.

Family Sponsorship Eligibility

Canadian citizens and permanent residents must meet certain requirements to qualify as a sponsor for family sponsorship. Take a look at the main factors considered throughout the application

Age: Sponsor must be at least 18 years old.
Place of Residence: Sponsor must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada, or a citizen planning to return to Canada soon after sponsorship.
Status: Sponsor must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and not sponsored for permanent residence in the last 5 years.
Financial Standing: Sponsor must not have received social assistance in the past 12 months and must prove financial stability.

What Documents Do I Need to Submit for the Family Sponsorship Application?

When applying for family sponsorship, it is essential to submit a comprehensive application with all the necessary documentation to demonstrate the legitimacy of your relationship to the government. The specific documents required may vary depending on the nature of your relationship with the family member you are sponsoring. Here are the key components:

Proof of Relationship: Blood ties, Marriage documents, Co-dependency and mutual finances & Adoption papers
Fees: Applicants must pay a processing fee, which includes additional charges for biometrics if required.
Sponsorship Agreement: Sponsors must commit to financially supporting their family members and any dependents through a formal commitment known as the “Sponsorship Undertaking.”
Medical Exam: If a medical exam is required, additional fees will apply.

Spouses, common-law partners, conjugal partners, dependent children, parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents may come to Canada to live, work or study. Depending on the path you choose to apply through, your family member may become a permanent resident after some time.
